Engineering Manager - Production Support


Our client, a leader in R&D of unique state-of-the-art Radar and electronic warfare systems, is currently seeking an Engineering Manager for our Production Support Group to focus on program within our defense customer segment. We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated, and a proven leader to establish and manage a new Production Engineering group.


• Transition complex radar, communications and electronic warfare (EW) systems from R&D into production
• Work in a fast-paced engineering organization applying design for manufacturing and design for test concepts into the products being developed
• Provide engineering support throughout the full product lifecycle
• Manage a team of Production Engineers and Designers
• Provide manpower planning, scheduling of resources, mentoring, training and performing annual reviews
• Serves as the liaison between the design engineering group and the manufacturing group
• Collaborate with a staff covering multiple disciplines across two companies to include Test Technicians, Manufacturing Engineers, Design Engineers, Program Managers, vendors, and customers.
• Work across multiple disciplines - mechanical, radio frequency, digital, systems, software and manufacturing engineering
• Manage new product releases from engineering to manufacturing
• Interface with program management to present cost, schedule, technical impact and options
• Coordinate all production engineering changes with manufacturing effectiveness and define associated regression testing
• Develop and revise processes to optimize producibility and reduce cycle time
• Troubleshoot manufacturing problems, isolate faults, and implement sustainable corrective actions through design changes, where appropriate
• Investigate component changes, resolve obsolescence issues, and recommend alternate parts
• Write non-conforming material reports, engineering change orders, manufacturing procedures and work instructions


• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical engineering, or related engineering field
• Eight or more years of related experience (or equivalent education and experience) to include radar, EW, or military communication systems is (highly desired)
• Experience with design/manufacture of complex state of the art electronics
• Experience with and knowledge of either ISO 9001 or CMMI (required)
• Two to four years of supervisory experience
• Excellent communications skills
• Ability to motivate and foster collaboration among and between diverse teams

• U.S. Citizenship with the ability to get a clearance
